Postoids

This week Kersten has selected the fabulous theme of "Poistoids"
She made 3 lovely samples so make sure to visit her blog Altered Gypsy to check out her other sample.
Here is what Kersten had to say about how she created her lovely pieces:
All include a watercolor base with Twinkling H2o overcoat. Stamped images are from an array of companies: Cherry Pie, Quietfire Design, and Creative Chaos.
On a separate note: Today we are in CA getting everything all set up. It is exciting and a bit scary to move into a new home and unpack all our treasured items (Like my Studio)

Asian

This week Lisa of La Femme Papier has selected the theme Asian...

Lisa Created these pieces by using rub-ons for the tree and geisha are from Dover Publications, they have the most beautiful full-color rub-ons that make papercrafting projects look "high-rent". And Cost Plus Imports has decorative chinese coins for a good price.

The sun stamp on the tree card is done by dabbing acrylic paint with a sponge on the stamp, you get a much more dense and textural color when stamping with paints instead of stamp pads. Look for papers with abstract patterns and designs and then crop them to create a scenic background or to fit the shape of a rub-on or stamp.

Can't wait to see what y'all come up with!

On Vacation

This week Jeanette is our Guest Designer and she has selected the theme "On Vacation" for us to work with.

Here is what Jeanette had to say:
Coming up is National Tourism Week, 5/9 thru 5/17 and Memorial Day, which is considered the start of vacation time. So, I picked "On Vacation" as my theme. Anything that demonstrates vacation. It could be a destination, I chose Mexico, mode of travel, anything having to do with a vacation.

More work by Jeanette can be seen on her lovely blog H2O Creations I must say a quick "I heart H2O's and am still totally bummed that the company closed.

I can't wait to see what everyone creates! Alas when this posts I will be up to my elbows in boxes, packing day 2 moving day is tomorrow.

I still have a few openings for GD at the end of June that I would like to fill. However I am always taking GD so if June does not work for you let me know and I'll put you down for whenever.

"In Flight"

This week Nancy is our Guest Designer. And she has selected the them of "In Flight"

You can see more of Nancy's lovely work on her blog NJP Originals Designs and she is also on the design team at Altered Pages where you can find many of her lovely pieces in the gallery and purchase kits that she has put together.

Nancy had this to say:

I want to thank Caroline for having me as a Guest Designer here today. I have never been a Guest Designer before and I really enjoyed the experience. I have created a Tag in the theme "In Flight" All the stamps I used are from Tim Holtz as are the Distressed Inks and the Mask I used.

To start the tag I made two color washes using Twinkling H2O's, in Dutch Iris and Heavenly Bamboo - I painted the top half of the tag with the blue and the bottom with the Bamboo. When I applied it I used a very light tough and made it kind of streaky. Once that was dry I used Distressed Ink in Weathered Wood lightly over the blue and Tea Dyed over the Bamboo. I ruffed up the edges and used Vintage Photo all the way around. When all this was really dry, I used a flourish mask and Worn Lipstick all over so there is a light pink touch to the whole tag. I stamped the bird twice - once with embossing ink and using black embossing powder on the tag, and then on a second tag, or heavy paper using Staz-On in Olive. I added a bit of H2O's in Mango Mamba to this stamping and then cut it out, used foam tape and placed it over the embossed bird, I also curled the wings a bit to give a look of flight. I stamped the saying with the olive ink and I used Timber for the branches. I added a few buttons and I embossed "In Flight" in the upper left corner in Egyptian gold so that's real sparkly also. I know it's really hard to see in the picture. I added a few ribbons and there you have it.
